Alex Chan - Studio Reface

Founder and art director of Studio Reface, Alex Chan has 20+ years of progressive experience in visualcommunication and project management. Alex has worked on many challenging projects, including the 2001 World Track & Field logo and game biding presentation, MacEwan University brand development, and The Juno Award Musical Festival marketing materials, to name a few. He has lectured at the Works symposium, MacEwan University, NAIT, and The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, and was invited by the Edmonton Public Library in 2001 to host his personal exhibition highlighting some of his best work.

Alex is well known for his passion in logo design. Logo design is the purest type of design. Unlike other types of design, it can’t hide behind a pretty illustration, a stunning photo or a trendy pattern. A great logo is an expression of the company values, culture and people. It is the creative interpretation of a concept through a simple form. The form should be strong and unique, finishing with impact.

James Morrissey - The Met Agency

James is an award winning advertising professional and owner of The Met Agency, a full service advertising and design studio in Old Strathcona.

James is passionate about branding, leading the rebranding of MacEwan and Concordia, the naming of companies like Transcend Coffee, and the marketing transition of Lube-X to Jiffy Lube across the country. His agency has branded many not for profit organizations including Volunteer Alberta, Terra Centre for Pregnant and Parenting Teens and the Compass Centre for Sexual Wellness.

He is the president of the Edmonton Business Association (EBA), Vice President of the Matt Cook Foundation, and a board member of the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts and the Non Profit Organizations Collective (NPO Collective). He is an ongoing guest lecturer at MacEwan and the University of Alberta, and instructs in the Entrepreneur program funded by the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.

James Schutz - Campers Village

James is a seasoned marketing professional and the director of marketing for Campers Village, where he is leading the comprehensive rebranding of the iconic 54-year-old Alberta retailer.

As the director of marketing for Transcend Coffee, he helped grow the business from a single roastery-café to a beloved multi-location brand, and established its strong ecommerce sales channel and social media presence.

As co-founder of The Met Agency, James led branding and advertising campaigns for clients in post-secondary education, oil and gas, non-profit, government, tourism and hospitality, food and beverage, and retail.

James has been a guest lecturer at the University of Alberta, MacEwan University and the Kings University, and serves on the board of the Highlands Community League.  He is continually inspired to seek the intersection of strategy, purpose and creativity, where he believes the greatest business and personal successes are found.
